Typically, I do complexes like this on my bonus day of training during the week as it does not fit squarely into either traditional “strength” or “conditioning” work.

Often, I’ll do any where from 5-10 rounds, resting down to 70% HR in between sets.

When designing complexes think SIMPLE. It’s usually best to choose 2-3 foundational “big rock” exercises that give you the largest return on investment and allow you to work hard throughout the entire work period. Allow complete or nearly complete rest in between to ensure quality practice and high intensity efforts.

In the face of mounting fatigue we want to be certain we can maintain both form AND power output. Choose a weight that allows you to maintain clean, crisp reps every time. In the long run what feels like easy training can pay huge dividends in strength endurance and overall aerobic health.
