Phase 3: Crossover Shotput Throw The huge eccentric stresses that come from throwing a baseball can be a nightmare for an unprepared shoulder. Combining strength training and high velocity medicine ball work will help develop shoulders that stand up to the stresses of repetitive throwing over the course of a long season. In Phase 3 we use the crossover progression to generate momentum and produce as much concentric force as possible. The goal here is to throw hard so we can create eccentric adaptations to the tissue in the rotator cuff. I feel like this progression can really “bulletproof” our athletes shoulders to keep them resilient under the stresses of repetitive throwing. This is typically the last progression we use before we begin reducing med ball volume in exchange for an increase in preseason throwing volume with our baseball and softball athletes. – @kev_in_carr @movementasmedicine @collectmomentsnotthingz @sanchise387 @scottyg003 @bodybyboyle A video posted by Movement As Medicine (@movementasmedicine) on Dec 31, 2015 at 11:30am PST
