Sometimes you have to drag your kids with you to workout…literally.

In all seriousness though…What type of example do you set for your children?

Direct messaging and parental modeling are important factors in forming adolescent views on exercise and nutrition. I personally can say my parents strongly influenced me to eat healthy and exercise.

Start them young and let them play and explore. Once they reach their teens it’s a good time to introduce them to an organized training atmosphere.

Youth fitness levels can strongly impact health outcomes decades later in life. In a study of nearly 40,000 Swedish men, researchers found that adolescent isometric muscle strength was inversely associated with decreased risk of CVD or CVD related death UP TO 40 YEARS LATER independent of genetic predisposition or cardiorespiratory fitness. This drives home the importance that early education and participation in exercise programs for youth can put the wheels in motion for a long healthy life regardless of genetic make up.
