Hip ROM and Splits Practice

We’ve been receiving lots of requests for splits practice drills lately. We thought it was the perfect opportunity to introduce @scottyg003 Scotty has been interning with us @movementasmedicine and will be added to Genbook and begin taking clients for massage and movement therapy in December. As you can see, Scotty has great movement capacity and we’re really excited to have him on board.

Here are 6 drills to help improve hip ROM from @scottyg003:

  • 90/90 Breathing: 8 complete breath cycles. Take your time and maintain deliberate forced exhalation throughout all the following movements.
  • Child Pose Rocking: 10 rocks/breaths.  Let your breathing inspire global flexion of the spine.
  • 90/90 Stretch with Bear Sit and isometric hold: 5 Bear sit transitions.
  • Tactical Frog: 5 rocks 10 toe touches.
  • Shifting Cossacks with rotation: 6 shifts. Constantly challenge your depth.
  • Hip Axle Rotations at 90
