I’ve decided to start doing this videos where I talk to the camera because they seems to work so well for @michael_boyle1959 and if I don’t step my game up he’s gonna catch up to me on IG soon.

Jokes aside, this is a very important topic for coaches working with new clients.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Often new clients especially ones who maybe overweight, elderly, lacking experience or coming off an injury will be intimidated by starting a new training experience. As friendly and welcoming as we are at @bodybyboylethe environment can be intimidating to a newbie. Pictures of professional athletes, jerseys on the wall, athletes training all may reinforce the voice in the clients head that is saying to them:

“I don’t belong here.”
“I’ve made a mistake.”
“This is going to be too hard for me.”

As coaches we don’t want to continue to make the client feel as though they are out of their depth. Instead we want their initial training experience to be one the build confidence and inspires them to keep going.

When a new client does something well they get a little hit of dopamine that inspires them and tells them “I can do this” and pushes them to keep training.

📝How To:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔺Pick progressions that will be easy so that they perform above their expectations. Avoid exercise selections that they’ll struggle with during the initial sessions. You can always make things harder and psychologically it feel much better to earn a progression than require a regression.

🔺Reduce the volume to 1-2 sets in the first week. You’ll be surprised how little it takes to make an untrained person sore.
