Weighted Single Leg Squats
I was inspired to add in some weighted single leg squats to today’s workout after this morning’s @bodybyboyle staff meeting discussion.
After mastering the basic pattern and getting to depth, don’t be shy about adding external load to single leg squats. There is huge carryover in terms of sports specific strength and multi-planar control of the lower extremity.
I opted for a 20 lb vest and a 10 lb @powerblockdumbbells handle for a grand total of 30 lbs of external load for 10 reps each. This is only about 13% of bodyweight so I have some work to do to get back where I used to be. Would like to get back around 40% of bodyweight external load. Looking forward to increasing the load and dropping the volume in the coming weeks.
Also, in case you were wondering, stacked tires make for a great depth marker for squats.
